This school has both negative influences and positive influences; countless violent incidents involving weapons have occured, as well as many drug incidents, and disrespect to adults, however, these negative influences aren't praised in the student society, thus creating a positive influence. SEMS offers several diverse clubs, organizations, and sports as well. As far as the acadmics, they are in the simplest form possible, it is up to the student to complete their homework and pay attention in class. When I was attending the school, several of my peers failed tests or quizs that occured on a regular basis because of the absence of an attitude to suceed, which would mean finished homework and attention in class. Students and teachers support you in every way possible, whether it is sports or any other field. One drawback I did recognize was that students would blame the majority of mistakes in academics on their teachers, not themselves. Some students think they are in a superior position in relation to the teachers, so they will talk back to them and not obey some of their orders. The traits of this school mentioned above are similar to those of all public American schools. I believe that modern media, such as ultraviolent video games and inappropiate television has caused a drastic change in today's society, not for the good. The students who suceed have some type of withdrawl of media. My parents didn't allow me to watch television during weekdays and they respected ratings in video games and television. So, if you want your child to suceed, lessen the amount of inappropiate content they experience through media.
